1879-O $20 Liberty. AU-50. A wonderful high grade example of this sought-after date. A lustrous example, free from noticeable scratches and bumps. Some fine hairlines are present from moderate cleaning at one time. This was the last year double eagles were struck at the New Orleans mint, a mere 2325 were coined.

  1889-CC $20 Liberty. AU-55. Cracked out of an NGC holder where this coin was graded AU 55 so Dr. Kardatzke could place it in his large Capital Plastics holder. We note however, that the rim has been lightly filed on the obverse behind Liberty's hair bun, in order to hide a rim bump (very successfully too). Only 30,945 struck.
